POWER GIRL INITIATIVE

Power
Girl
Initiative
Introduction
Empowering women in the society, can solve community issues such as female circumcision, domestic violence, teen pregnancies, forced early marriages, and petty crime. Ensuring equal opportunities for girls in school is crucial for long-lasting impact on the society.
In Kenya, girls have seen an increase in attending school, but menstrual health remains a challenge. 20-25% of girls miss at least 20% of school time due to lack of proper menstrual products, particularly in slums and rural areas. Research shows that many end up using unhealthy solutions, leading to school dropouts and girls not receiving education.
To empower women economically and politically, academic empowerment is essential. Ensuring girls receive proper menstrual hygiene products, such as sanitary towels, underclothes, soap, and water, can minimize absenteeism, school dropouts, teen pregnancies, and early marriages. Education can help women fight for their rights, fight discrimination, and fight female circumcision.
